City of Bloomington Arts Commission Announces Call for Applications and Grant Workshop for Arts Project Grant Program

Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Arts Commission (BAC) announces that guidelines and applications are now available for the October Cycle of its 2012 Arts Project Grant Program. Deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m. on October 1, 2012. The BAC encourages all eligible organizations to apply.

To support the grant program the Arts Commission also announces that it will hold a drop-in workshop for potential applicants. The workshop will be offered Wednesday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 401 North Morton St. Potential applicants are invited to bring questions as well as draft applications in progress for review and feedback by commission members. The drop-in workshop is first-come, first-serve and will conclude at 5:00 p.m.

Grants of up to $1,000 are available to nonprofit organizations participating in arts activities that align with current areas of focus of the Arts Commission: to cultivate a community in which residents appreciate the value of personal and collective artistic activity; to encourage collaboration in and diversification of artistic activities that include participants from across the community; to enhance and support a high level of artistry and to support the economic vitality and interests of local artists and arts organizations. In 2011, 24 arts projects were supported through the program.

Grant applications will be reviewed at the Arts Commission's October meeting scheduled for October 10 at 5:00 p.m. in the McCloskey Room of City Hall. Guidelines and application are available on the City of Bloomington website at www.bloomington.in.gov/bac.
