City of Bloomington named a Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association
Bloomington, Ind. - For the third consecutive year, the American Heart Association has named the City of Bloomington as a Platinum Fit-Friendly Worksite for supporting employees' commitment to healthy eating and wellness.
"The City values the health and well-being of its employees, and we applaud the efforts of our employees and the members of our Be Active wellness team for creating and sustaining a positive work environment," Deputy Mayor Maria Heslin said. "On behalf of the City, we appreciate being recognized for our hard work and look forward to furthering our efforts in the future."
The American Heart Association recognizes exceptional organizations that take the initiative to improve the health of their employees. This year, the Be Active team received an Honorable Mention in the ShapeUp Social Wellness Awards, encouraged 86 employees to participate in the Start! Walking Program and increased healthy vending options from 20 percent to 30 percent. Also, health coaching is now free for all City employees.
The American Heart Association offers Fit-Friendly Worksites an array of resources, such as access to AHA activity tracking tools and marketing materials.
