King Commission invites public to vote in MLK video contest
Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration Commission invites members of the public to view and vote for their favorite entry in the MLK video contest. The voting deadline is Jan. 14.
Earlier this month, the Commission invited those of elementary, middle and high school ages to submit an original video addressing the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and promoting the acceptance of diversity.
Videos are available for viewing and voting by navigating to [http://bloomington.in.gov/mlk|http://bloomington.in.gov/mlk] then clicking "Vote! MLK Video Contest People's Choice Award." Votes for the People's Choice award will be tallied after Jan. 14. The Commission will select an overall winner separate from the People's Choice voting, and that video's creators will be eligible for prizes. Both winning videos and their creators will be named and honored at the City's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration on Jan. 21 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, 114 E. Kirkwood Ave.
The Commission is also collecting nominations for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award. Nominations may be made at [http://bloomington.in.gov/mlk|http://bloomington.in.gov/mlk.]. The deadline for Legacy Award Nominations is Jan. 11.
