City of Bloomington Arts Commission to host retirement reception for Patti Pizzo

Bloomington, Ind. -
The City of Bloomington Arts Commission will host a retirement reception for Patti Pizzo from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9 in the City Hall atrium. Pizzo has served the Arts Commission for 18 years, and will leave a legacy of arts involvement in the community.

"Patti Pizzo 'is' the arts in Bloomington," Mayor Mark Kruzan said. "Three mayors have seen fit to appoint Patti to the Arts Commission in the last 18 years because of her passionate belief that the arts are a crucial component of Bloomington's quality of life."

Pizzo was first appointed to the Commission in 1995 by Mayor Tomilea "Tomi" Allison. While on the Commission, Pizzo has played an active role in commissioning works of public art through the Percentage for the Arts program. She also has overseen the documentation of the City's public art collection, supported funding for arts projects and shepherded the Monroe County Postcard Series. In recognition of her significant contributions and financial patronage, Patti was awarded the Arts Advocate Arts Leadership Award by the Bloomington Area Arts Council in 2005.

Arts Commission members invite all who would like to thank Pizzo for her service to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
