City of Bloomington Fire Department to host first departmental awards ceremony

Bloomington, Ind. -
The City of Bloomington Fire Department is pleased to announce that its first-ever employee awards ceremony will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 N. Morton St. The public is invited to attended.

"I'm looking forward to celebrating our very deserving members," Fire Chief Roger Kerr said. "So many people go above and beyond to make our department an excellent one, and they deserve to be applauded for that."

The ceremony will recognize the Department's Bernard Glover Firefighter of the Year and Officer of the Year, and individual awards will honor work performed in the areas of Life Saving, Exemplary Action, Accomodation, Company Citation and Merit. The awards are peer-nominated and are reviewed by a committee for final approval. A medal and certificate will be presented to each recipient.

Feb. 17 was chosen because it marks the 113th anniversary of the City of Bloomington Fire Department's founding.

For more information about the event or awards, please contact Kerr at 349.3891.
