BPD to participate in nationwide prescription drug take-back
The Bloomington Police Department will participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 27. The event is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Old, unwanted and unused prescription drugs will be collected by Department personnel and disposed of safely. The collection site will be on South Lincoln Street on the east side of the Bloomington Police Department headquarters, located at 220 E. Third St. Lincoln Street is one way going north, so drivers should approach from the south side and follow offers' instructions.
In the five previous Take-Back events, the DEA has partnered with state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners to collect more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications that were then removed from circulation.
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposal while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.
