BEAD and the United Way of Monroe County present "This is How I Live United"

Bloomington, Ind. - Through the month of September, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) presents the United Way of Monroe County's "This is How I Live United" photography exhibit in the Atrium of City Hall, 401 N. Morton St.

Showcasing photographs taken by local residents, "This is How I Live United" gallery captures how friends, family, and neighbors live united by giving, advocating and volunteering to create a better tomorrow for our community. These images are from people who are making a difference together, showing that a united community can strive to have a positive impact on the future.

United Way of Monroe County is a nonprofit organization that improves people's lives by addressing critical needs today and working to reduce those needs tomorrow. United Way utilizes Community Action Fund and grant initiatives to work with 24 member agencies and community partners to focus resources on strengthening building blocks for a better life: education, earning, and the essentials. The exhibit will be on display Sept. 1-30. Exhibition hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings. A reception will take place during the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market on Saturday, Sept. 7 in the Atrium.

This project is another effort under the City's strategy to leverage and expand the economic development potential of the Arts in Bloomington. According to the 2012 Americans for the Arts study, Bloomington's nonprofit arts sector contributes $72.3 million to the local economy annually through direct spending by arts organizations and their audiences.
