City Partners for the Second New Healthcare Law Community Kickoff Event
Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington, IU Health Bloomington, and the Affordable Care Act Volunteers of Monroe County will provide an opportunity for the community to attend a second Affordable Care Act (ACA) Community Kickoff Event to learn about the new Healthcare Law. The event will be held at the Monroe County Public Library Auditorium located at 303 E. Kirkwood Ave., Bloomington, on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The purpose of this event is to expand knowledge and awareness of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the new healthcare law, to community residents and maximize the number of residents with health insurance coverage. The event will begin with a presentation from community stakeholders representing the City of Bloomington, IU Health Bloomington, and the Affordable Care Act Volunteers of Monroe County. There will be information on what the Affordable Care Act is, why it is important to enroll in a qualified health insurance plan, and an explanation of the new, essential health benefits of the law. There will also be instruction on how to enroll in the Indiana Health Insurance Marketplace and public programs such as Medicaid, the Healthy Indiana Plan, and Hoosier Healthwise.
There will be a Health Insurance Community Fair on Oct. 21, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library at 303 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington. The focus of this event is to educate the community on the basics of medical insurance and the new Healthcare Law.
Health Insurance Fairs will also be available on the following dates: Nov. 6 and 21 and Dec. 4 and 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library. Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act began on Oct. 1, 2013 and will continue through March 31, 2014. For health insurance coverage to begin on Jan. 1, 2014, you must be enrolled in the Health Insurance Marketplace and have made your first premium payment by Dec. 15, 2013.
