2014 Electronic Scrap Collection Event Will Be Held May 17

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Sanitation Department will host an electronics scrap collection event on Saturday, May 17. The event will start at 9 a.m. and end promptly at 1 p.m. This will be a free event and will take place regardless of inclement weather.

The City invites residents of Bloomington and surrounding communities to dispose of unwanted electronics for recycling. Please bring items to the Sanitation Garage at 3406 S. Walnut St., just north of the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter. The following items will be accepted: computers, laptops, monitors, LCDs, cell phones, printers, scanners, modems, cables, televisions, VCRs, DVD players, camcorders, cameras, gaming systems, telephones, pagers, answering machines, typewriters, calculators, fax machines, copiers and postage meters.

"We are very excited to again be teaming up with Vintage Tech in an attempt to provide the community with the much-needed service of responsible electronics recycling," said Shelby Walker, the City's Sanitation Director. "Vintage Tech has partnered with several manufacturers to offset our cost for the event. We're hoping for a great turnout on May 17 and continued support in the future."

For more information regarding the event, please contact Director of Sanitation Shelby Walker or Office Manager Rhea Carter at 349.3443. Information can also be found by visiting the Sanitation Department's web page at www.bloomington.in.gov/sanitation.
