Annual Indiana GIS Conference to be Held in Bloomington

Bloomington, Ind. -The City of Bloomington announced that the 2015 Annual Indiana GIS Conference will be held on May 12 and 13, in the heart of beautiful, downtown Bloomington at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center, 302 S. College Ave. The conference is sponsored by the Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC) and will draw nearly 300 GIS professionals from around the state.

GIS stands for Geographic Information Systems. The City uses GIS as a tool to visualize information and integrate a wide variety of data to assist with planning activities, problem solving and decision making. IGIC's Annual Indiana GIS Conference presents an outstanding program of technical workshops, inspiring presentations, networking opportunities and vendor exhibits. This year's presentations range from innovative applications and analysis techniques to community and historical mapping. Workshops include topics covering Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), Open Data, new options for using IndianaMap data and more. In addition to the City of Bloomington, the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS) (located in Bloomington), Indiana University Information Technology Services (UITS) and Monroe County Technical Services also have been active in conference planning.

Along with the GIS community, the annual conference welcomes elected officials, policy makers and other end users.
