Arden Place Neighborhood Association Announces Call to Artists for Artwork

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Arts Commission (BAC), in partnership with the Arden Place Neighborhood Association, is issuing a Call to Artists - Request for Qualifications for a site-specific artwork commission. Submissions should depict the concept of a "constant gardener."

The Arden Place Neighborhood Association was granted funds by the City of Bloomington's Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) to commission artwork for a sculpture displayed in Arden Place. The artwork for the neighborhood will serve as a figural representation of the many individuals who work throughout the year to enhance the beauty of their gardens and yards, which all in the Arden Place neighborhood and throughout the city can enjoy. The designated site for the artwork is the Arden Place community garden located at 1809 Windsor Drive. The BAC is seeking proposals from artists or artist teams interested in creating their sculptural representation of of a "constant gardener" in a minimalist style. Artwork height should be approximately 5 - 6 feet, and the preferred material is limestone. The artist or team selected for the commission will work with the neighborhood association on the final design.

A project description as well as information on how artists may respond to this Call are available [on the BAC's website|/bac]. The deadline for submissions is July 15, and the budget for the artwork commissioned cannot exceed $12,000.
