"Wood|Stone|Metal" by Artist Lynne Medsker Is July's City Hall Atrium Exhibit

Bloomington, Ind. - During the month of July, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase "Wood|Stone|Metal," a series of mixed-media work by Morgan County artist Lynne Medsker, in the Atrium of City Hall, 401 N. Morton St.

The inspiration for the "Wood|Stone|Metal" series springs from Medsker's lifelong interest and affection for rocks in all forms. Medsker combines rocks with driftwood, concrete, and other treasures accumulated on her travels, as well as found metal components, to transform discarded and unused items into things of beauty.

Layering traditional art media with these materials, Medsker tells visual stories featuring organic and geometric shapes. These layers are manipulated with her bare hands or simple tools. Viewers, drawn to the work by the texture, color and details, will also discover things hidden within the layers. She delights in the moment when those details reveal themselves to others, sparking inspiration, stirring emotions or provoking thought.

"Wood|Stone|Metal" will be on display June 30 - August 1. Exhibition hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.
