City Extends Adopt-A-Cat Month Through July and Waives Cat Adoption Fees for Fourth of July Weekend

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control has had such great success with its event, "The Great Catsby," that it will be extended throughout the month of July. Also, in celebration of the event's success and Fourth of July weekend, the City will be waiving adoption fees for cats and kittens July 4 - 5.

Many cats and kittens entered the shelter in the month of June, and many foster kittens are now old enough for adoption and ready to find new homes. This means that there are plenty of new faces to see at the Shelter and new family members to take home for July. The Shelter staff and volunteers are ready to help visitors find their perfect feline companion - whether it will be their first cat or a new friend for another beloved pet.

"The Great Catsby" will continue the specials it offered in June by offering reduced adoption fees for cats from July 1 through 31. Adoption fees will be waived for all cats five years and older, cats from the ages of six months to five years will have reduced adoption fees of $30 and kittens six months and younger will have a two-for-one adoption fee of $75. In addition to "The Great Catsby," a special will be offered July 4 - 5. All cats at the Shelter will have adoption fees waived for the Fourth of July weekend. Regular adoption fees are $75 for cats under five years old and $55 for those five years and older. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccines and microchipping, plus testing for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).

The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter, located at 3410 S. Walnut St. The Shelter is open to the public:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
