"Welcome to Bloomington" Materials Available for Bloomington Neighborhoods

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Housing and Neighborhood Development Department (HAND) has developed a website and materials to make Bloomington a more welcoming city. "Welcome to Bloomington" materials are ready for Bloomington neighborhoods to distribute to new residents.

Bloomington has a great influx of new neighbors in August, and HAND would like to assist neighborhoods in welcoming new residents. HAND can furnish neighborhoods or individuals with 3 ½ inches by 4 inches, "Welcome to Bloomington" magnets that can be adapted to hang on the door handle. The magnet features a link to a helpful web page, [bloomington.in.gov/welcome|/welcome], which provides visitors with information on many City programs, services and ordinances.

A "Welcome to Bloomington" brochure also has been developed to provide a glimpse into the basics of living or renting in Bloomington. The brochure includes information for residents regarding everything from residential parking permits to noise ordinances to trash collection. Neighborhoods can download a PDF version on the website or request print copies (instructions below) for distribution.

HAND also supplies "Be Neighborly Bloomington" bags, measuring 9 inches by 12 inches, which are designed to hang on a door. These bags were created for neighborhoods to use when they want to supply their own letter, newsletter or information to new residents and create their own, unique welcome.

Neighborhoods interested in participating need to provide HAND with the number of each of the following they will need to welcome their new residents:

  • magnets,

  • brochures, and/or

  • "Be Neighborly" bags

Please contact Vickie Provine at [provinev@bloomington.in.gov|mailto:provinev@bloomington.in.gov] or 812.349.3505 to provide this information.
