"Press Puzzles" by Marc Tschida is September's Atrium Exhibit

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - During the month of September, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase hand-crafted wooden jigsaw puzzles that celebrate the community and culture of Bloomington. Bloomington artist Marc Tschida chooses the imagery on each puzzle to feature annual events, sights around town, and the arts and artists that help make Bloomington unique. This exhibit will be showcased in the Atrium of City Hall, 401 N. Morton St.

Tschida established Press Puzzles in 2013. His puzzles spotlight images recognizable to Bloomington locals, such as the Buskirk-Chumley Theater marquee, IU Memorial Stadium and images of Monroe County. A puzzle made by Tschida can take two to eight days to create, with each piece cut out one at a time using a scroll saw. Post-card sized and 100-piece puzzles are sold at the Gather: Handmade Shoppe in Bloomington, the Brown County Craft Gallery in Nashville, Ind., as well as at various community art fairs. Tschida also creates custom and personalized puzzles for clients by special order. The exhibit will be on display September 7, 2015 - September 28, 2015. Exhibition hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.

ABOUT THE BLOOMINGTON ENTERTAINMENT AND ARTS DISTRICT (BEAD)

BEAD seeks to bring the business and creative sectors together to advance commerce and culture, build community and spur economic development. BEAD is a geographically defined, mixed-use cultural district in downtown Bloomington which capitalizes on local and regional assets that are specific to the cultural, economic and social issues of Bloomington. BEAD's Atrium Exhibit program is another effort under the City's strategy to leverage and expand the economic development potential of the arts in Bloomington.
