BEAD's November Atrium Exhibit "Walk in the Canyon" to Showcase Textile Artist Daren Redman

Bloomington, Ind. - During the month of November, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will exhibit the works of textile artist Daren Redman. The show will present textiles and photographs inspired by and created during Redman's recent artist residency at the Grand Canyon.

Redman was chosen as Artist in Residence at the Grand Canyon National Park, North Rim, for Sept. 23 through Oct. 13, 2015. Only five artists are selected for this residency each year. On her trip, Redman created various 3D textile installations of dyed fabrics to match the geology near the North Rim. This residency highlighted the importance of water conservation, as she used very little water to dye 100 yards of silk. Redman also took photographs of the inner canyon, which inspired the colors of the textiles she constructed.

The exhibit will be on display Nov. 4, 2015 - Nov. 30, 2015. Exhibition hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.
