City of Bloomington Sanitation Providing Large Item Pick-Up During Spring Cleanup

Bloomington, IN -- The City of Bloomington Sanitation Department will be picking up large items beginning May 16, 2016 and ending on May 26, 2016. Large items include furniture and other household items.

This "spring cleanup" promotion is meant to encourage proper disposal of items as the spring school semester ends and residents begin moving out of homes serviced by the City of Bloomington Sanitation Department. Large items will be picked up at the curb on your regularly scheduled trash pick-up day. Other helpful tips include:

• Please have all items at the curb by 5 a.m.

• Regular household trash and yard waste still require the appropriate sticker.

• Please call 812-349-3443 to schedule an appliance pick-up.

• Please remove propane tanks from grills and gasoline from power tools.

• All heavy trash must have 2 yellow trash stickers on each item

• Construction debris will not be accepted

IU students can also donate items that are in good condition, including furniture, housewares, clothing, unopened food, and other items, to the Hoosier to Hoosier Community Sale. Pickups in off-campus housing can be scheduled here or by emailing h2h@indiana.edu.

Also, please remember that yard waste collection has begun. Yard waste will be collected every other week on the same day as recycling. Please have the recycles and yard waste at the curb by 5 a.m.
