2016 Adopt-a-Dog Month at City of Bloomington Animal Shelter

Adopt-a-Dog Month at City of Bloomington Animal Shelter

Bloomington, Ind. - In recognition of national Adopt-A-Dog Month, the Bloomington Animal Shelter is promoting dog adoptions with a "Howl-o-Ween" theme and several special events.

Dog adoption fees are reduced to $40 for dogs 5 years old and younger, and $20 for dogs 5 years old and older, for the entire month of October. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm- tested and spayed or neutered. Normal adoption fees are $75 for dogs younger than 5 years and $55 for those 5 years and older.

Adoptable dogs will make appearances at the following events during the month of October:

  • Saturday, October 1: Bark in the Park, adoption event at Bryan Park Woodlawn Shelter, 1000 S Woodlawn Ave, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

  • Sunday, October 2: Run for the Animals benefit for the Monroe County Humane Association, north side of Tapp Road at the Woolery Mill, 2200 W Tapp Road

  • Saturday, October 8: "Adorable Adoptables" at the Monroe County Public Library, 303 E Kirkwood Ave, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Sunday, October 9: Hoosier Hills Food Bank Book Fair at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, 5700 W Airport Road, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

  • Saturday, October 17: "Adorable Adoptables" at the Monroe County Public Library, 303 E Kirkwood Ave, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Sunday, October 16: "Hops for Hounds" at Upland Brew Pub, 350 W 11th St, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

In addition to these events, adoptable animals can be visited at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter, 3410 S. Walnut, on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Adoptable animals can be seen on the Shelter website at bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter and on the Shelter's facebook page at www.facebook.com/COBAnimalShelter.
