Mayor John Hamilton Announces New Parks and Recreation Director

Bloomington, Ind. - Mayor John Hamilton has named Paula McDevitt as the new director of the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, effective immediately. McDevitt has served as interim director since January of this year. She replaces long-time director Mick Renneisen, who left the position to serve the Hamilton administration as deputy mayor.

McDevitt's career with the City began 28 years ago.

"Paula has proven herself in this position since January. And after a national search, Paula competed and rose to the top. I'm very pleased that she has agreed to serve the City in this capacity. I have great confidence that with the institutional knowledge, enthusiasm and wisdom she brings to this position, the future and quality of our Parks and Recreation Department will be among the very best in the country," commented Mayor Hamilton.

Previous positions McDevitt has held within the Parks and Recreation Department include Recreation Services Division Director, Adult/Family Services Area Manager, Program Supervisor at the Older Americans Center and Community School and Teen Program Director.

A graduate of Indiana University, McDevitt is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional. Her annual salary will be $91,500.
