Call to Artists: People's Park
Bloomington, Ind. - Bicycle Garage Inc., in collaboration with the the City of Bloomington is issuing a call for artist proposals for a mural to be located on west wall of the Bicycle Garage Building located at 507 E Kirkwood. The mural will be a highly visible design element at People's Park.
Mural Details:

The goal of the mural is to provide an innovative & strong work of public art to the residents and visitors of Bloomington, IN.

Themes to consider - Community Health, Sustainable Living, and Civil Streets Bloomington.

The mural is approximately 8.5 ft. 56 ft. (please see photo at the end of this document).

There is no application fee.

Proposal Deadline: 5:00 P.M. Friday, May 26th, 2017.

Stipend:
Artist will receive $1,650. This amount includes all artist fees, material and equipment purchases to complete the mural.
Completion Date: All work must be completed prior to July 31st, 2017.

Illustrations of the proposed mural. Submissions must contain between 1 and 5 sketches or digital renderings of the proposed mural.
A description of the proposed work. Please include the following descriptions:

An artist statement describing artistic experience and interest in the project.

A description of the concepts in the proposed mural.
Support Materials/Previous Work

Proposals should be accompanied by 5 to 10 images of previous work.

Resume - Maximum 2 pages

Files should be submitted in a .pdf format and will be acknowledged upon receipt.
Selection:
The artist will be selected by Bicycle Garage Inc., Parks and Recreation, Members of the Bloomington Arts Commission and City Staff.
Submissions must be received by 5:00 P.M. on May 26th, 2017. Artists will be notified about the selection by June 2nd, 2017. Send electronic submissions to starowis@bloomington.in.gov
