Public Invited to Meet with City Officials in July

Bloomington, Ind. - Throughout the month of July, Bloomington residents will have opportunities to interact with Mayor John Hamilton and City of Bloomington department leaders at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market (401 N. Morton St.). All are invited to attend the market throughout the month to discuss concerns, current projects and future initiatives, and to learn more about the City.

This Saturday, July 1, Fire Chief Jason Moore will be at the Farmers’ Market from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to talk about fire safety as well as offer a tour of a Bloomington Fire Department (BFD) fire truck. The whole family will enjoy this opportunity to see city fire equipment and learn about how it helps save lives. Chief Moore and the crew will be parked on Morton Street in front of City Hall.

Mayor Hamilton will host “Mayor at the Market” on Saturday, July 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Join the mayor just outside City Hall, either under the awning or in the shade to the north of the main entrance to the building, depending on weather conditions.

On Saturday, July 15, Innovation Director Tom Miller will host the market from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. He will be available to discuss innovative projects and what the City of Bloomington is doing proactively to make our government more efficient and effective.

The following Saturday, July 22, Corporation Council Philippa Guthrie will be at the Market from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., also in front of City Hall. Ms. Guthrie will be ready to describe the activities of the City’s Legal Department and answer any questions about the City’s recent lawsuit against the State of Indiana or the enforcement of City Municipal Code.

The public is encouraged to attend any or all of these Farmers’ Market opportunities to interact with City staff. There are no formal agendas, just a chance to meet and share thoughts, concerns and ideas. All are welcome.
