Public Invited to Meet with City Officials in August

Bloomington, Ind. - Throughout the month of August, Bloomington residents will have opportunities to interact with Mayor John Hamilton and City of Bloomington department leaders at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market (401 N. Morton St.). All are invited to attend the market throughout the month to discuss concerns, current projects and future initiatives, and to learn more about the City.

This Saturday, August 5, Mayor John Hamilton will be at the Farmers’ Market from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to talk about current initiatives, such as safety, civility and justice recommendations and solar power. Meet the mayor on the steps outside of City Hall.

Parks and Recreation Director Paula McDevitt will be at the market on Saturday, August 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and will be available to discuss the calendar of concerts and activities in Peoples Park during August and September, as well as other Parks Department projects.

On Saturday, August 19, Communications Director Mary Catherine Carmichael will host the market from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Join her just outside City Hall, either under the awning or in the shade to the north of the main entrance to the building, depending on weather conditions.

The following Saturday, August 26, Director of Utilities Vic Kelson will be at the market from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., also in front of City Hall. He will be ready to answer any questions about water quality and the upcoming anniversary celebration for the Monroe Water Treatment Plant.

The public is encouraged to attend any or all of these Farmers’ Market opportunities to interact with City staff. There are no formal agendas, just a chance to meet and share thoughts, concerns and ideas. All are welcome.
