Hate Based Vandalism Reported

Bloomington, Ind. - A swastika spray-painted on a railway underpass at 14th and College Avenues in Bloomington was reported to the Office of the Mayor at approximately 12:45 p.m. today.  A crew from Public Works covered the vandal’s work shortly after it was reported.

The Bloomington Police Department is actively investigating this and three similar acts of vandalism discovered last Friday.  It is not known at this time if the incidents are related.

“These acts of hate do not represent the culture and values of Bloomington. Every person is welcome here. Messages of hate are not.  We will aggressively pursue every avenue open to us to find the person or persons who are responsible for this and they will be held accountable,” said Mayor John Hamilton.
