Public Information Meeting Announced for Draft 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan

Bloomington, Ind. - The Bloomington/Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMCMPO) will hold a public information meeting on Thursday, November 30, from 6:00-7:30 p.m., for public comment on the Draft 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The meeting will be at City Hall, 401 N. Morton St., in Council Chambers.

Community members are encouraged to attend and comment on the Draft 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, found at bloomington.in.gov/mpo/clearinghouse and shaping project funding priorities of the MPO for the next two decades. BMCMPO staff will be available at the meeting to answer questions and discuss the MTP and other important transportation issues.

The MTP documents a comprehensive public involvement process identifying multi-modal transportation needs to the year 2040 under an established community vision and goals. The MTP further documents Bloomington-Monroe County transportation system needs in relation to projected financial resources, resulting in a fiscally-constrained transportation investment plan.

The 2040 MTP fulfills federal and state transportation planning requirements, thereby ensuring that the BMCMPO maintains eligibility for federal transportation funding.

In addition to the meeting on November 30, there will be opportunities for public comment on the MTP during review meetings with the BMCMPO Citizens Advisory Committee, Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Committee. Details about these committees can be found at bloomington.in.gov/boards.

For more information or to provide comments on the Draft 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, please contact Pat Martin (martipa@bloomington.in.gov) or Scott Robinson (robinsos@bloomington.in.gov) in the City’s Planning and Transportation Department, or call 812-349-3423.
