Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department Recognizes Outstanding Partners

The Board of Park Commissioners at their November meeting presented awards of recognition to the Bloomington Rotary Club and CFC, Inc.

The Bloomington Rotary Club received the November BRAVO award for exceptional volunteer service, while CFC, Inc. received the Parks Partner award for their ongoing and outstanding collaboration with the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.

Bloomington Rotary Club volunteers assisted the Department's urban forestry staff with the planting of 34 trees in Crestmont Park in October. Rotary Club volunteers worked diligently throughout the morning and completed the tree planting ahead of schedule. The Bloomington Rotary Club also purchased 25 of the 34 trees planted, and generously donated the trees to the city.

CFC, Inc. was recognized for their longstanding collaboration with and support of the Department. CFC, Inc. has served as a reliable sponsor for programs including the Performing Arts Series and Children’s Expo, and was one of the first businesses to sponsor tree planting on the downtown square. Parks and Recreation staff are grateful for CFC's ongoing support of the Farmers' Market. CFC, Inc. provides parking spaces for Market shoppers, and occasionally a water supply line for the Market's prepared food vendors. CFC, Inc. CEO Jim Murphy was credited for his long-term service as a member of the Bloomington Parks Foundation, with CFC, Inc. often hosting Foundation events.
