City of Bloomington Utilities Issues Sanitary Sewer Overflow Advisory

Bloomington, Ind. — The City of Bloomington Utilities has issued a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) advisory for the following areas after an SSO was confirmed today, Thursday, November 1:

  • 500-600 blocks North Fairview Street

  • 700 block West Amy Robinson Drive

  • 300 block West Brookdale Drive

  • 1500 North Woodburn Avenue

The significant amount of rainfall received since Wednesday, October 31, is believed to be a significant contributor to this SSO.

The City of Bloomington Utilities continues to monitor the situation. Clean-up and determination of the amount of flow generated from this sanitary sewer will commence once the flow ceases.

Individuals in the aforementioned areas are advised to take precautions when coming into contact with untreated sewage that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow.  Any individual who has come into direct contact with untreated sewage is advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
