New All-way Stop at Maxwell and Sheridan

As of today, Monday, December 19, The City of Bloomington has converted the Maxwell Lane and Sheridan Road intersection from a two-way stop-controlled intersection (with stop signs on Sheridan only) into an all-way stop-controlled intersection.

This change was prompted by a City Council ordinance 22-31 (https://bton.in/nI9O~) that was approved on November 2nd after neighborhood residents raised concerns about safety at the intersection. There are new ‘Stop Ahead’ signs on the Maxwell Lane approaches to the intersection, and new stop signs on Maxwell Lane have temporary red flags.

The temporary signs, message boards, and flags are intended to raise user awareness of the traffic pattern change and reduce the risk of crashes as a result of the change.
