City Of Bloomington Announces Call For Street Mural Along Allen Street Greenway

The City of Bloomington invites artists and artist teams to propose a mural design at the intersection of Allen and Fairview Streets along the Allen Street Greenway. Street mural proposals should focus on the identity and history of the McDoel Gardens neighborhood, emphasizing shared values of residents.

Applications are due at 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, March 22, 2024. The total artwork budget is $10,000, including artist honorarium, and mural materials and supplies

All professional artists and artist teams, ages 18 and over, are invited to submit proposals. Artists with residence in or direct ties to McDoel Gardens are strongly encouraged to apply. Please refer to the call for proposals for complete application guidelines.

A selection panel, including City of Bloomington staff, members of the Bloomington Arts Commission, and McDoel Garden Residents, will work to select the mural design and will work with the artist to organize a community painting day in which McDoel Gardens residents will be invited to help paint alongside the artist.
