City of Bloomington Delays Sanitation Services Beginning Monday, Jan. 26
Due to the winter weather event “Fern, “ which continues to impact southern Indiana, City of Bloomington Sanitation services will be delayed beginning Monday, January 26, 2026.
City of Bloomington Public Works crews have been actively responding throughout the weekend, but the continued snowfall and extremely cold temperatures are expected to keep travel conditions extremely difficult and hazardous for the next several days.
At this time, a resumption date has not been determined. Predicted sub-zero windchill temperatures, in addition to the major snow accumulation and drifting that is expected through Monday, may result in extended delays. Depending on the number of days that services are delayed, it is possible that no pickups occur this week.
Residents are asked to keep carts off the street until further notice and not to place additional materials curbside. Updates will be shared as conditions improve and service schedules are confirmed.
The City appreciates residents’ patience as crews prioritize safety and critical winter response efforts.
