The Art and Science of a Successful Nonprofit: Board Development

This is a FREE workshop.

Many arts and cultural organizations across Indiana have undergone significant changes in recent years. Nonprofit organizations throughout the state have entered into a new era in which the dynamics of board roles and responsibilities have been altered by changing economic and management forces.

Managing a successful nonprofit organization is a little bit about art and a lot about science. It is about having the right tools and processes in place to attract the right kind of board leadership.

In this workshop, FlashPoint Human Resources Consulting will collaborate with the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) to provide attendees with practical tools and resources to effectively manage today and lead for tomorrow.

About the Workshop

BEAD and the City of Bloomington, in partnership with the Indiana Arts Commission, will be hosting a two-day board development workshop presented by FlashPoint Human Resources Consulting. The workshop will take place on April 15 and 16 in the Bloomington City Hall Council Chambers.

Participants in this workshop will learn techniques for building a board recruiting strategy, and tools for interviewing, retaining, onboarding, and developing board members. FlashPoint will also present on methods for assessing and diagnosing the current state of your organization and ideas on delivering a positive and engaging board member experience. Registration for this workshop is open to arts and cultural organizations throughout the state of Indiana. The workshop is being offered free of charge through a Technical Assistance Program grant from the Indiana Arts Commission.
