August City Hall Exhibit to Feature the Work of Printmaker Elizabeth Busey

BLOOMINGTON, IN - During the month of August, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase artwork created by local printmaker Elizabeth Busey in the Atrium of City Hall.

The series of prints on display will focus on our quixotic relationship with water and the patterns it yields. Busey's work is created using one block of linoleum with which she prints up to ten layers of transparent ink onto cotton paper. This technique yields prints infused with color and dimension.

After completing printmaking coursework at Indiana University, Busey has spent the last five years refining her printmaking on an etching press her husband made out of recycled steel. For her, printmaking is a combination of technique and serendipity: "Every new layer of ink is an adventure."

More examples of Busey's work can be seen on her [website|http://elizabethbusey.com].

A reception for the exhibit will be held on Friday, August 5 from 5:00-7:00pm in the Atrium at City Hall. The exhibit will be on display August 1-31. Exhibition hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings.
