City Accepting Nominations for 2011 Blooming Neighborhoods Awards Celebration

Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Housing and Neighborhood Development Department (HAND) is now accepting applications for the 2011 Blooming Neighborhoods Awards, an annual recognition of the year-round efforts of Bloomington's neighborhood associations.

All Bloomington residents are invited to attend the Bloomington Neighborhood Celebration at the Farmers' Market Plaza on Saturday, June 4. Neighborhoods can sign up for a table where they can display their neighborhood information during Saturday's events from 9 a.m. to noon. Prior to the celebration, the awards will be presented at the Bloomington City Council meeting on Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Nominations will be accepted for three categories: the Mayor's Excellence Award, the City Council Neighborhood Enhancement Award and the HAND Team of the Year Award. The winner from each category will receive a $100 check made payable to its respective neighborhood association.

Blooming Neighborhood Award applications are due in the HAND Department in City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, Suite 130, by Monday, April 18.
