Bloomington, IN -- To help kick off the upcoming season, Indiana University and the City of Bloomington will host an IU Football pep rally on the B-Line Trail on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
The pep rally is a joint effort between the City of Bloomington and the university to bring the spirit and tradition of the IU football program downtown to the B-Line Trail and the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD).
"This is a great opportunity for IU and the City to come together and create a memorable event downtown," said Mayor Mark Kruzan. "The season is upon us, and IU athletics are such a big part of what makes Bloomington a great place to live, work and visit."
"We would like to thank Mayor Kruzan for giving us this opportunity to help generate excitement for the 2010 football season", said Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass. "We are always looking for ways to integrate IU Athletics with the local community and this pep rally will be an outstanding showcase for our football team and the City of Bloomington."
The pep rally will begin at 5 p.m. in the Farmers' Market Plaza of the B-Line Trail on 8th Street and will feature music from B97, giveaways, inflatable games and bag toss courtesy of IU Athletics, and comments from Mayor Kruzan, IU football head coach Bill Lynch, IU men's soccer head coach Todd Yeagley and IU women's volleyball head coach Sherry Dunbar.
