Bloomington, IN -- The City of Bloomington's Parks and Recreation Department and Safe and Civil City Program, in collaboration with Indiana University's Asian Culture Center, will present the 2011 AsianFest on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. - noon during the Bloomington Farmers' Market in Showers Plaza, 401 N. Morton Street. AsianFest will feature music and dance performances along with several cooking demonstrations.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) was created to honor the achievements of Asian/Pacific Americans and to recognize their contributions to the United States. APAHM is normally celebrated throughout the country in the month of May, but in Bloomington, a number of educational and entertainment opportunities are offered in April to accommodate the academic calendar.
