Bloomington, IN -- Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that the City of Bloomington will hold an informational open house for phase one of the B-Line Trail. The open house will take place Wednesday, August 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 N. Morton.

The purpose of the open house is to present the final design for phase one of the project. Blueprints of the entire first phase project - from north of Second Street to Rogers Street - will be available for public review. A PowerPoint presentation will play during the sessions and artist renderings illustrating multiple perspectives of the trail will be on display. The consultant team of Cornerstone Planning and Design, and Butler, Fairman and Seufert, along with Parks and Recreation and other City of Bloomington staff will be on hand to answer questions. The public is encouraged to attend.

"We're excited about showing the community the plans for phase one of the B-Line Trail," said Mick Renneisen, Director, City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department. "This project has significant economic development opportunities in addition to providing additional recreation amenities to our community. We look forward to hearing the community's reaction to the design."

Construction on the first phase of the B-Line Trail is scheduled for spring 2007. The project is 80 percent funded from federal grant dollars earmarked for the construction of alternative transportationand greenways projects.
