City of Bloomington Animal Shelter Holds “My Furry Valentine” Adoption Promotion

Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan and the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter invite the public to adopt their own "Furry Valentine" in a special Valentine's Day promotion from Monday, Feb. 7 to Sunday, Feb. 20.

"Valentine's Day is all about celebrating those who warm our hearts," said Mayor Kruzan. "And what better way to bring some love into your life than to adopt a shelter sweetheart?"

The City is promoting "My Furry Valentine" with $40 dog, cat and rabbit adoptions. The adoption fee covers a first round of vaccinations, a free visit to a local veterinary office, heartworm testing for dogs or feline leukemia/FIV testing for cats, microchip identification and spay/neuter surgery. The fee for dogs and cats younger than five years of age is regularly $75 and the fee for those over five years of age is regularly $55. The regular fee for adopting a rabbit is $45.

The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter located at 3410 South Walnut. The shelter is open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon until 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

Adoptable animals also can be seen on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Farmers' Market and they can be viewed on the shelter web site at [www.bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter|www.bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter]. There also will be an offsite adoption event at the Bloomington PetSmart store on Friday, Feb. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about adoptable animals call 349-3492.
