Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington will recognize and celebrate local neighborhood associations for their hard work by presenting three awards at the Farmers' Market in June.
"These awards recognize neighborhood associations that have helped develop a sense of community in Bloomington," Mayor Mark Kruzan said. "It's important for neighbors to develop relationships and work together to keep their neighborhoods safe, clean and livable."
Neighborhood associations are welcomed and encouraged to apply for the recognition. The three award categories are: Mayor's Excellence Award, City Council Neighborhood Enhancement Award and the Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Neighbor of the Year Award.
Presentation of the awards will take place at the Celebration of Neighborhoods at the Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 10 a.m. Winning neighborhood associations will receive $100. Neighborhoods can sign up for a table to display their neighborhood information and enjoy meeting with other residents at the Farmers' Market from 9 a.m. to noon.
Blooming Neighborhood Award applications are due in the Housing and Neighborhood Development Department by Friday, April 25, 2008.
