City of Bloomington Promotes Adopt A Shelter Cat Month with Special Adoption Fees

Bloomington, IN - It's summertime and the living is easy! The City of Bloomington Animal Shelter has cats of all ages, sizes and personalities to fit in with your summer lifestyle.

Are the kids out of school and looking for a playmate? We have kittens ready to romp and play. Even better, adopt two kittens for the price of one!

Looking to relax and work on your summer reading list? We have lazy lap cats ready to share the sofa.

Want to get some "fix-it" projects done around the house? We have cats ready to be your sidekick.

June is national Adopt a Cat Month and the Shelter joins shelters and rescue groups across the country and the American Humane Association in promoting shelter adoptions.

Cats younger than 1 year can be adopted two for the price of one, a deal at $75. Cats 1 year and older can be adopted for $20. Regular adoption fees are $75 for a cat under age five and $55 for a cat five years and older. Included in the fee are spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and testing for feline leukemia and FIV.

The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter located at 3410 South Walnut. The shelter is open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon until 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Adoptable animals also can be seen on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Farmers' Market, and they can be viewed on the shelter web site at [www.bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter].

For more information about adoptable animals call 812-349-3492.
