City of Bloomington to Display Artwork of Wyatt LeGrand in City Hall Atrium

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase the work of painter Wyatt LeGrand during October in the City Hall Atrium, 401 N. Morton St.

LeGrand's painting methods change periodically but he most often paints from direct observation. For LeGrand, painting with the intent of capturing a visual experience evokes an emotional resonance that he finds appealing and meaningful.

After graduating in 2009 from Indiana University with a degree in visual arts education, LeGrand opened the Bloomfield-based LeGrand Art Studio and Gallery, where he creates, studies and teaches visual art practices and techniques to students of all ages.

The exhibit will be on display Oct. 1 through 31. Exhibition hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as additional evening and weekend hours when City Hall is open for meetings. A reception for the exhibit will be held on Oct. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Atrium at City Hall. The public is invited to attend and meet the artist.

This project is another effort under the City's strategy to leverage and expand the economic development potential of the arts in Bloomington. According to a 2012 Americans for the Arts study, the local nonprofit arts sector contributes $72.3 million to the economy, including 3,430 jobs.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing opportunities for area artists to exhibit artwork in the City Hall Atrium.
