City of Bloomington Volunteer Network hosts Community Volunteer Fair at Farmers' Market
Community Members Invited to Meet Nonprofit Leaders!
Bloomington, IN - Community members are urged to visit the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network's 'Community Volunteer Fair' at the Farmers' Market Plaza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 18. This is a great opportunity to meet the people who work or volunteer for our local nonprofits, and to explore ways that you can connect to this work. When you find something you're passionate about, it's much easier to find the time to do it!
Over 40 nonprofit organizations will be represented, including the Fourth Street Festival, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, Monroe Lake, Global Gifts, Trained Eye Art Center, New Hope Family Shelter, Bloomington Parks and Recreation, Community Kitchen and Monroe County Court Appointed Special Advocates, who serve children who have been abused or neglected.
"One of the many things Bloomingtonians can be proud of is that more people in Bloomington volunteer than both the state and national averages - and we volunteer at a higher rate as well," said Mayor Mark Kruzan. "Let's keep that going. I urge folks to stop by the Volunteer Fair and see what appeals to you - how you can best put your time and talents to work."
