Bloomington, IN -- The City of Bloomington Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) department will be offering its next Neighborhood Leadership Series class on Thu., June 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Neighborhood Leadership Series are free classes offered quarterly to enhance leadership skills, share best practices and provide interaction between City departments and neighborhoods.

The June 10 class will explore the Planning Department and the fundamentals of what neighborhood leaders should know about working with the City on land use issues.

The class also will feature Jan Sorby from Bryan Park, Jack Baker from McDoel Gardens and Patrick Murray from Prospect Hill in a "Round Table Discussion with Proven Neighborhood Leaders in the Area of Land Use," aimed at educating neighborhoods about the planning process and how to address land use in the neighborhood.

This session will help neighbors learn hoe to work productively with City departments and the City Council. Through interactive discussions participants will come away with effective techniques for approaching issues in their neighborhoods.

To register contact Vickie Provine at provinev@bloomington.in.gov or call 349-3505. Read more about the class on the HAND Web site, http://bloomington.in.gov/hand.
