Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that applications for the 2010 Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) are available in the City of Bloomington's Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Department at City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, Suite 130.
Applications can be picked up Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., or downloaded online at https://bloomington.in.gov/documents/viewDocument.php?document_id=885.
Individuals interested in learning more about these grants and agencies new to the process are reminded to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 8 a.m. in the City Hall McCloskey Conference Room.
Organizations applying for a CDBG must serve city residents whose household income is less than 80% of the area median income. Applicants also must submit a "Letter of Intent" by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, and turn in completed applications to HAND by Friday, Dec. 4, by 4 p.m. Agencies who serve minority populations are encouraged to apply.
CDBG funding is federal community development assistance dollars provided annually to the City by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In 2009, HAND allocated $827,024 for both physical improvements and social services.
For more information on physical improvement projects or social service programs related to the CDBG, please call Bob Woolford or Marilyn Patterson, both City HAND Program Managers, at 349-3401.
