Leslie Brinson Named Parks and Recreation Department's Community Events Manager

Bloomington, Ind. - The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department announced last week that long-time staff member Leslie Brinson was promoted to fill the vacant Community Events Manager position. Brinson assumes her new responsibilities April 10.

"Leslie's vast experience will be a valuable addition to the Community Events team," said Becky Barrick-Higgins, Recreation Services Director. "She will help take the Community Events area to the next level."

Brinson has served as the Program/Facility Coordinator at the Banneker Community Center since 2002. As the Banneker Center Coordinator, she oversaw the growth of the Bloomington Youth Basketball program and its transition to the Twin Lakes Recreation Center. She also managed Banneker's Family Resource Center and its popular summer day camp programs. Brinson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Centre College in Danville, Ky. and is active in the youth sports community as a volunteer coach.

"I am excited to begin working with the quality, experienced Community Events staff in the Parks and Recreation Department, and about learning from them as I begin this new position," Brinson said. "As a team, we will continue to explore new ways to bring exciting new programming to our community."
