Lincoln Street To Reopen For Traffic Thursday Morning

Bloomington, Ind - Repairs on Lincoln Street between Third and Fourth Streets have been completed and Lincoln is set to reopen for vehicle traffic by 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

Mayor John Hamilton said, "I want to commend our Public Works, Street, Engineering and Utilities Departments as well as Weddle Brothers Construction for their fast work to fully restore this busy intersection. Third Street was repaired and open within 6 days of the unanticipated closure, saving our residents the inconvenience an extended detour would have created. Lincoln Street will reopen within the time frame originally forecasted for the total repair.

"Thanks, too, to the small businesses in the area affected by the temporary closures. Their patience, adaptability and cooperation throughout the repair process were much appreciated.

"I tip my hat to everyone involved in the timely repair of this major thoroughfare prior to one of our busiest weekends of the year. I'm sure many residents and visitors to Bloomington this graduation weekend will spend more time with their loved ones and less time in traffic as a result of their efforts."
