A highlight of the Black History Month Gala is the presentation of the Black History Month Living Legend Award. The 2017 Living Legend Award recipient is Doris J. Sims. Donald and Nicole Griffin of Griffin Realty, sponsors of the award, described Ms. Sims as a leader in every aspect of her life and a leader who keeps everyone in mind. "Doris genuinely cares and works to make a difference at home, at work, at church, as a volunteer and in the community.
