Bloomington, IN - In preparation for the opening of the B-Line Trail later this spring, the City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation Department and the Department of Economic and Sustainable Development (ESD) have created the B-Line Backer Program, a chance for local businesses to participate in the Trail's enhancement.

The program consists of a number of promotional opportunities for local businesses and organizations, including the adoption of Trail amenities such as benches and planters and commitments to ongoing beautification efforts.

The program will benefit business owners and B-Line Trail users, said Kim Ecenbarger, Special Services Coordinator for the City's Parks & Recreation Department.

"This program provides a wonderful opportunity for business owners, organizations and individuals to have a presence along the Trail while also showing support and taking pride in this grand addition to our trail system," Ecenbarger said.

Recognizing B-Line Backers as an economic development opportunity, businesses have already shown interest.

"Already, the B-Line Trail has become a focal point in our community," said Danise Alano, ESD Director for the City. "Even before the City broke ground, businesses have asked how to get involved in supporting the B-Line, and this program provides those opportunities on many different levels."

Brochures highlighting program details are available at the www.bloomington.in.gov/b-line. The program is open to any business or individual interested in supporting the trail.

For more information on the B-Line Backer program, or to receive a program brochure, please contact Ecenbarger at [ecenbark@bloomington.in.gov|mailto:ecenbark@bloomington.in.gov] or 349-3739.
