City of Bloomington Further Delays Sanitation Services; Revised Pickup Schedule Announced
Bloomington, Ind. – Due to continued impacts from the winter weather event “Fern,” including dangerously low wind-chill temperatures, the City of Bloomington will delay sanitation services one additional day. Sanitation services will resume on Wednesday, January 28 this week and follow this revised schedule:
- Monday routes will be collected Wednesday, January 28, 2026
- Tuesday routes will be collected Thursday, January 29, 2026
- Wednesday routes will be collected Friday, January 30, 2026
Thursday routes will be collected Saturday, January 31, 2026
Regular sanitation service will resume the following week, beginning Monday, February 2, 2026.
Residents are asked to keep carts off the street until the day of their rescheduled pickup and not to place additional materials curbside during the delay period. This helps crews navigate narrow, snow-covered streets and maintain safe working conditions.
Please continue to keep carts separated at least 4ft apart.
The City appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as crews continue to prioritize safety and critical winter response efforts.
The Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department provides curbside collection of trash, recycling and yard waste to single-family residences that are within the city limits. It also provides trash collection from City parks, municipal parking lots and a number of City operated facilities.
For more information or questions concerning sanitation or recycling services, please contact the Sanitation Division at (812) 349-3443.
