Resolution 06-15

This resolution is co-sponsored by Councilmembers Rollo and Sturbaum and calls upon the United States government to apply pressure to the government of Sudan to end the genocide in Darfur and calls upon the State of Indiana to divest funds -- including the Public Employee’s Retirement Fund, the Teachers’ Retirement Fund and Police and Fire pensions -- from companies doing business with the Sudanese government where such companies support or passively enable the Darfur genocide. The resolution supports Senator John Broden’s efforts for targeted divestment of Indiana funds from Sudan and directs the City Clerk to send a copy of the resolution to the U.S. President, the Governor of the State of Indiana, the Congressional delegation and other State and federal legislators.
