Resolution 2024-08

This resolution is sponsored by Councilmembers Piedmont-Smith and Rollo. It calls for national leaders to work toward a cessation of hostilities directed at innocent civilians in Gaza, a ceasefire to allow for the provision of humanitarian aid backed by significant financial support, the release of all hostages, and a lasting, peaceful solution to the conflict between Palestinians and the State of Israel. Note: The title of the resolution was revised after distribution in the Legislative Packet on March 28, 2024 but before introduction of the resolution. This resolution was further revised on April 2, 2024, before its introduction at a Council meeting, to add additional context to the third and fourth Whereas clauses and: • to change "multilateral" to "lasting, bilateral" in Part 1 of Section 1; and • to change "lasting" to "sustainable" in Part 5 of Section 1.
