Hello, upon attempting to move into this apartment on Monday 8/11/25, we clearly saw that there had been water damage and there were multiple signs of mold in the unit (see pics). We did a Fungi 10 dust test (see results) on the main floor and upper floor which came back "high" for 4 types of molds on the lower level (and lower levels of mold on the upper floors). On the same day the building manager felt it necessary to bring in more "senior" Varsity Property Management (Vaughn) and Vaughn brought in a large cleaning crew who painted over the mold and cleaned the apartment. They did not acknowledge the mold with us. They claimed they "missed cleaning" the unit after the prior tenant left. The vent covers were totally rusted, and they replaced those immediately (see pic). The kitchen cabinets had mold, under the sink showed mold, and looking at the garage ceiling there is water damage coming from the kitchen above (our unit). Also, the bedroom on the main level shows water damage, and the HVAC closet in the garage shows signs of mold. One of our boys is highly sensitive to mold and we cannot live in a unit with unsafe mold levels. The mold we think could be all over: in the HVAC, walls, ceilings and floors. We do not think we can move into this unit. The property manager was alerted to concerns of mold by another building tenant we know and we believe the property manager has committed to looking at all of the units. They did not commit to testing for molds. We are notifying them that we conducted the mold test shortly and will share the results with them. We want the city to inspect our unit please and test for mold. The pictures were taken before they cleaned & painted the unit, so when you perform the inspection, you will see something different than in the pictures. We hope you can test for mold and give us an idea of how safe or unsafe the unit is and how big of a remediation job this will be. I was driving on E. Thornton and an overhead line dropped on my car. Made it through fine, but wanted to report the line being down. I think it must be a phone or cable line, but I'm not sure.

This house is in horrific repair and appears unsafe for the residents. The gutters are chained to a scaffold so they don't fall. The roof has visible holes and rot with the eaves falling off in to the yard.

Having mold problems really bad

This house is abandoned and not secured for several years now. There is no back door and windows are broken out. Graffiti has been spray painted inside the house. No one is maintaining the building even though someone is paying for lawn service now. It has been frequented by teenagers and homeless people. There are probably animals living inside, since there is nothing preventing them from going in.

Hello, an illegal addition was built on side of garage of the house. without proper permits the electrical box is unsafe and outside expose to elements ,unsafe buildings roofs are pitched incorrectly and are unsafe , there is multiple people and kids living in unsafe conditions who currently rent on multiple buildings and garage addition as far as we know no permits for multiple rentals have been approved.

This is the trailer that caught fire recently. There have been people in the structure late at night, for multiple nights, with flashlights. There are also people there going through the property during the day, it is unsure if they are supposed to be there or not. There is also a strong smell of something dead over there. I assume it's just an animal but figured it might be good to get it checked out.

lot is still after several YEARS overgrown. Abandoned car is still there with limbs on top and garage is in disrepair with trash boxes coming out. I was told a year ago this was being dealt with but obviously it is not. Follow the codes of the city of Bloomington and get this mess cleaned up. The house was torn down several years ago because of neglect and nothing has changed.
